On 5 April 2023, in Rio de Janeiro - North Zone (Rio de Janeiro), a riot ensued after an armed clash with military police officers (coded separately). A group threw explosive devices in the courtyard of a public school in the Mare Complex. 16 suspects were arrested, and 18 local schools closed as a result. Police seized three rifles and four pistols.
