On 23 March 2023, near Wan Ba La village (Bawlake township, Bawlake district, Kayah state), the military conducted airstrikes with an aircraft five times at around 1:30 pm, hitting and destroying a ten-wheel truck and temporary tents in the wood production workplace. Radio Free Asia and the Ministry of Defense - NUG reported that 3 wood production workers were killed and 5 others were injured. Mizzima reported that 3 wood production workers were killed and 8 others were injured. BBC news reported that 2 wood production workers were killed and 3 others were injured. Fatalities coded as 2 for the lowest estimates.
