Undefined Explosive Device (UED)
Undefined Explosive Device (UED) event in Centre-Val de Loire, Martinerie, Dols area, France on Thu 16th February 2023
16th February 2023
On Thursday 16 February, the deminers from the La Rochelle centre intervened in the Martinerie industrial zone in Dols, in the Indre department. A 250 kg American bomb from the Second World War was discovered during a soil survey on a former military site. During the 1914-1918 war, a pilot school was located there, which was taken over by the Germans during the Second World War. In 1944, the Allies dropped 147 tons of bombs. It is therefore not very surprising that remains were found there almost 80 years later.
