A civilian, identified as Biresh Mandavi, a resident of Kana village, was killed after accidentally stepping on an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by the cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) to target security personnel near Muragaon in the Korer area in Kanker District of Chhattisgarh on March 8, reports newsriveting.com. The Maoists had escalated violence and unleashed terror among the villagers as they were baffled by the intensive operation of the Security Forces that had made the rebels go defensive.
