On 12 March 2023, an IED planted by suspected Al Shabaab detonated, targeting a minibus driver and his assistant near Baardheere village (Belet Weyne, Hiraan). The motive behind the incident reported as related to the current military campaign backed by the Hawadle clan against Al Shabaab in the region (coded separately). There were no casualties.
