On 15 March 2023, an unexploded shell from previous clashes exploded near Sfan dam in rural Al-Malikeyyeh town in Al Hasakeh countryside, injuring two children while they were grazing sheep, a twelve and ten years old, one of whom seriously, while the other lost his leg. There were no fatalities.
