On 4 March 2023, an IED planted by Al Shabaab detonated, targeting ATMIS UPDF and government security forces (SNA) convoy near Shalaambood village (Marka, Lower Shabelle). The forces were providing security to tractors that were cutting trees along the road. There were no casualties. Al Shabaab claimed responsibility.
