On 19 February 2020, a landmine of unknown origin exploded in Sirwah district west of Marib (Sirwah, Marib) at the passage of the convoy of pro-Hadi Minister of Defence Muhammad 'Ali Al-Maqdashi. The Minister survived the explosion but six soldiers from his escorts, including relatives, were killed and another injured.
