On 8 March 2023, the Burkinabe air force carried out drone strikes against presumed IS Sahel militant position in the village of Debere-Nangue (Gorom-Gorom, Oudalan). The VDP were chasing the militants and were touched by the blast. About thirty militants and six VDP were killed by the drone strikes. The air strikes also destroyed an unspecified number of the militants' weapons and motorcycles.
