On 8 March 2023, in Nyaung Pin Gyi village (Shwegyin township, Bago district, Bago-East region), the Myanmar military LID-77 and LIB-20 fired five artillery rounds into the village at around 5:35 am. The Ministry of Defense - NUG reported that a monk was killed while Myanmar Now reported that at least 10 locals were injured. Around five houses also caught fire by artillery shells, and nearly 1,600 villagers were forced to flee.
