On 1 March 2023, an IED detonated near the Spin Jomat (PD1) area of Khost city, killing at least six TTP commanders and injuring 15 others. The blast occurred in front of a hotel known to have TTP presence. Some sources claimed that at least one civilian was also killed and the attack was carried out by a Pakistani drone strike while some claimed Afghan forces killed them. No group claimed responsibility. It is unclear whether the wounded individuals were civilians or Taliban members.
