On 27 February 2023, in Hkawng Ei village (coded as Hkawng Ei (North)) of Pekon township (Taunggyi district, Shan-South state), an artillery shell fired by the Myanmar military IB-336 landed in a house at around 8 pm. Two villagers including an 8-year-old child were injured. A monastery and some houses were also damaged.
