Air Delivered event in Kachin, Bhamo area, Myanmar on Mon 27th February 2023

On 27 February 2023, between Thin Baw Inn and Pauk Kone villages (coded as Thin Baw Inn) (Shwegu township, Bhamo district, Kachin state), the Myanmar military launched airstrikes with a fighter jet on artisanal gold mining sites near Nga Pauk Wa village on the bank of the Ayeyarwady River, where gold miners were panning for gold, at around 3 pm without an armed clash occurring. The Kachin News Group, the DVB and Myanmar Now reported that two gold miners, one from Moe Sit village and another from Pauk Kone village, were killed, while RFA reported that four were killed. Myanmar Now also reported that three others were injured, with one of them losing a hand and another one possibly needing to have both legs amputated. Fatalities coded as 2 based on the lowest estimates.
