Projectile event in Kherson, Kherson area, Ukraine on Thu 9th March 2023

Police launch criminal investigation into shelling of Korabelnaya Square in Kherson Today, at around 10 o'clock, Russian troops opened fire. In Kherson, four citizens were killed and two others were injured in an artillery attack on Korabelnaya Square. Among the dead were a 33-year-old shop assistant at a public transport stop, a 51-year-old woman and a 68-year-old man who were at the stop. Another resident of Kherson died of his injuries in a nearby private house, and the owner of the house was wounded. A short time later, a 27-year-old resident of the regional centre, who had been injured on the square, also sought medical assistance. The investigative team, explosive experts and employees of the State Emergency Service were working at the scene. During the inspection of the crime scene, the shelling continued, and there were no casualties among the police and rescuers. The Kherson regional police have now initiated criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Violation of the laws and customs of war). Urgent investigative actions are underway.
