On 20 February 2023, JNIM militants detonated an IED planted at the hangar used as police and customs post in the northern outskirts of the town of Nara (Nara, Koulikoro). One policeman and a civilian worker at the mayor's office were killed, seven others were severely wounded including five policemen, a soldier, and a civilian administrative worker at the police, and several people were arrested at the market. JNIM claimed responsibility.
