On 22 February 2023, in Hpayarthonesu town (Kyainseikgyi township, Kawkareik district, Kayin state), a mine planted by an unidentified armed group exploded near the barrier in front of the military base (IB-32) entrance road at around 2:45 pm, killing a woman and injuring a man on a tricycle cart nearby.
