IED event in Suffolk, Kelsale area, United Kingdom on Thu 16th February 2023

A herd of donkeys were "saved" after an unexploded WW2 was reported in Suffolk. Police were called to a farm in Kelsale, near Saxmundham, at 1pm on Sunday. Halesworth Police said on Facebook that the suspected explosive was found by a farm and dated back to the Second World War. The post from the force read: "The Sentinels lept into action heroically and saved a herd of donkeys from impending doom". The post added that a cordon had been put in place. However, no people were moved or evacuated as there were no buildings nearby. An army Explosive Ordnance Disposal team attended from Colchester and it was confirmed that the suspected explosive was a flare and not a bomb. The team removed the flare from the farm and took it away with them. This comes after another unexploded device was unearthed at Isleham Marina near Mildenhall toward the end of January. Earlier this month, a Second World War bomb exploded across the Norfolk border in Great Yarmouth and the moment was captured on video.
