Presumed war device found in the sea, the bans are triggered in Casarza The order limiting activities in Casarza following the discovery at sea of an alleged war device was signed yesterday by the commander of the Maritime District Office of Vasto, vessel lieutenant Stefano Varone. It was a citizen who identified, about 50 meters from the coast, the object believed to be a bomb dating back to the Second World War. The Coast Guard was notified of the discovery which, after acquiring information on the positioning of the presumed bomb at sea, started the process for reclaiming the site. Commander Varone then signed the ordinance according to which "with immediate effect and until any operations of reclamation and recovery of the bomb by specialized military personnel", in the stretch of water concerned, for a distance of 200 meters from the point indicated in the map, it is forbidden to transit, navigate, anchor and stop with any vessel for both pleasure and professional use; practice bathing; carry out diving activities with any technique; carry out fishing activities of any nature and any recreational and/or professional activity in general. The ordinance was sent to the Prefecture of Chieti which made a request for intervention to the Navy's Sdai (Defense Anti-Means Demining) nucleus which, in the next few days, will travel to the site for the necessary operations. Another bomb had been found in the same stretch of sea at the end of January.
