Ali Hussein Atrache, 12, and his sister Fatima, 10, were killed on Wednesday in an explosion of an "unidentified body" in Ersal, Bekaa, a security source told our correspondent in the region Sarah Abdallah. According to the information provided, the two children were looking for scrap metal when they found the explosive device. An investigation has been launched. Landmine explosions, left over from several wars, are not uncommon in Lebanon. These devices remain buried in various areas and continue to cause casualties. Mine clearance operations by UN teams and the Lebanese Army have removed many of these mines.
