An improvised explosive device booby-trapped by unknown persons was discovered on Saturday 4 February in Mbau, a village located about 25 kilometres from the town of Beni (North Kivu). The spokesperson of the operational sector Sokola 1 confirms this information. He said that the device was buried in the ground of a local school compound. Captain Anthony Mwalushayi said that experts from MONUSCO's mine action service (UNMAS), the FARDC and the Congolese national police arrived at the scene and managed to safely remove the device before destroying it. While congratulating the inhabitants who alerted the police to the presence of this death device, the army officer invited them to be vigilant.
