IED event in Amsterdam, Supperclub, Singel area, Netherlands on Mon 30th January 2023

There was an explosion at restaurant-bar Supperclub in Amsterdam earlier this afternoon. A window shattered but there were no injuries. AT5 reports that a witness saw a man place an explosive near the door of the Supperclub and it exploded shortly afterwards. The man reportedly fled the scene. Police have cordoned off part of the canal and are investigating the scene with the TEV (Team Explosieven Verkenning). Last year, several explosives were also planted at entertainment venues. Then, the Amsterdam municipality intervened in consultation with the police and Cafe In The City and The Harbour Club were closed. Both venues had to close for two months while police investigated the circumstances surrounding the planting of explosives.
