Unknown event in Amsterdam, Hoofdweg area, Netherlands on Sun 22nd January 2023
22nd January 2023
A supermarket in Amsterdam-West was damaged by an explosion on the night of Sunday to Monday, police confirmed after AT5 reported. A little after 4.30am, an explosive went off on Hoofdweg. This also briefly caused a fire, but it quickly went out and the fire brigade did not need to extinguish it. However, the shop's windows and blinds were damaged by the blast. There were no injuries. Police are still investigating whether the supermarket was the target of the explosion. The explosive went off outside on the street and near the supermarket is also the entrance to a large apartment complex. Furthermore, directly opposite the supermarket is a police station, but it has "no public function", the spokesman said. The station is not manned at night and no one was present at the station last night either.
