Unknown event in Amsterdam, Zeilstraat area, Netherlands on Sun 22nd January 2023

An explosive device may have gone off at a cafe on Zeilstraat in Amsterdam this evening. This is not the first time the cafe has been the target of an attack. At 6.50pm, several reports of an explosion came to the police. The cafe on the Zeilstraat in Amsterdam-West was also in the news in 2021 because several shots had been fired at the premises. The Zeilstraat is currently closed to all traffic. According to a police spokesperson, Forensic Investigation is currently at the scene to investigate. People were present in the cafe at the time of the explosion, but no one was injured, according to police. It is not yet known what exactly happened. The fire brigade was also at the scene, but as the fire was already extinguished, they took no action.
