On 16 February 2023, a remote controlled IED by Al Shabaab detonated, targeting government security forces (Danab/Bancroft) convoy passing near Yaaq Biri Weyne village (Wanla Weyne, Lower Shabelle). Three soldiers were killed and three others were injured. Al Shabaab claimed responsibility.
