A Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre, identified as Ganesh Bhuian alias Abhyas Bhuian alias Prem Bhuian (34), carrying a bounty of INR 1.5 million on his head, surrendered before Security Forces in Gaya District of Bihar on February 9, reports The Print. Bhuiyan, a member of the Bihar-Jharkhand regional committee of the banned CPI-Maoist outfit, laid down his rifle and cartridges before Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) commandant Kumar Mayank and Gaya Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Ashish Bharti in Rampur area. Bhuiyan, wanted in over 12 cases pertaining to murder, loot and dacoity, was a resident of Bansi village under Pratappur Police Station in Chatra District of Jharkhand, and was active in the CPI-Maoist outfit since 2003. He was involved in attack on Police party, triggering Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast and other Naxal [Left Wing Extremist, LWE] violence in Bihar and Jharkhand. The Jharkhand government had announced a reward of INR 1.5 million, and the Bihar government had put a bounty of INR 25,000 for his arrest, SSP, Ashish Bharti said.
