Undefined Explosive Device (UED)
Undefined Explosive Device (UED) event in Lower Saxony, Gttingen area, Germany on Fri 10th February 2023
10th February 2023
At the end of March in Gttingen, instead of four, only three possible duds had to be defused or blown up in a controlled manner. As the city of Gttingen announced, there is one less danger point than initially assumed. Preparatory measurements by the Lower Saxony explosive ordnance disposal service (KBD) had shown that the fourth suspected point was only fragments of a bomb that had already partially exploded in World War II. On March 25, around 8,500 people have to leave their homes in the western part of Gttingen. According to the city of Gttingen, an evacuation within a 1,000 meter radius around the suspicious spots is necessary to protect the population.
