On 6 February 2023, near Hnan Kye village (Yebyu township, Dawei district, Tanintharyi region), a Hijet vehicle carrying a total of eight people including a 60-year-old monk, four men and three women was attacked with mines while traveling from Dawei to Yar Hpu Ywar Thit village of Yebyu town on the Dawei-Yebyu Road at around 3:30 pm. The monk and a 65-year-old woman were killed, and six others were injured. Based on the DVB and Eleven Media Group, the Yebyu PDF claimed responsibility and said that they mistakenly carried out the attack, assuming that the vehicle was carrying the plained-clothed military soldiers.
