On 8 February 2023, in Kyauk Hpyar village (coded as Kayin Kyauk Hpyar) (Kawkareik township, Kawkareik district, Kayin state), the Kyondoe-based Myanmar military IB-545 fired artillery rounds indiscriminately into the village in the evening. A 60-year-old woman was killed by an artillery shell.
