On 30 January 2023, in Bay Ka Lwe village (Ye township, Mawlamyine district, Mon state), a 60-year-old man lost his left leg and sustained injuries after stepping on a landmine when he went to his garden near the Kyoe Ta Dar creek, where Myanmar military soldiers were stationed, to fix a water pipe at around 10 am. The victim was taken to a 300-bed hospital in Mawlamyine.
