On 30 January 2023, a US drone targeted a car of AQAP militants with a Hellfire R9X missile as the car was standing in line to fill petrol at Al Hayrah station in As Samdah area (Marib). Its 3 occupants were killed including AQAP leader Hassan al Hadrami who is responsible for manufacturing explosive devices for the organization. Al Hadrami survived a previous drone attack on his house on 30 November.
