On 30 January 2023, AQAP militants targeted with an IED and with an anti-personnel mine UAE-backed forces (coded as STC Security Belt) in Al Mahfad district (coded to Al Mahfid) (Abyan) in two separate incidents. The IED injured 1 fighter and the anti-personnel mine injured several soldiers.
