On 1 February 2023, militants targeted the Turkish Zilkan base with at least 8 but up to 20 GRAD rockets in Kudud, Ninewa. 2 of the rockets landed within the base perimeter. There were no casualties. The launch originated from the Al Fadhiliyah (Fasiliyah) village of Bashiqa district. Liwa Ahrar Al Iraq claimed responsibility for the attack stating they targeted the base with 20 rockets.
