On 1 February 2023, an IED planted by Al Shabaab detonated, targeting Jubaland security forces convoy traveling between Qamqam and Yoontoy Yarey village (Kismaayo, Lower Juba). The security forces also safely defused another IED. There were no casualties. Al Shabaab claimed responsibility.
