On 1 February 2023, Al Shabaab fired two mortar shells, and the mortar rounds landed inside ATMIS protected area at the Aden Ade International Airport in Mogadishu - Wadajir (Banadir). One round landed and exploded inside the guard unit. There were no fatalities. Six soldiers were injured. Al Shabaab claimed responsibility.
