Event Authorities plan to defuse an unexploded WWII-era bomb discovered near Rathsfelder Strasse in Nordhausen Jan. 27. Authorities have established a 500-meter (547-yard) security perimeter around the site and will evacuate residents and businesses. Residents within 1,000 meters (1,100 yards) are instructed to remain indoors during the operation. The bomb will be rendered safe during the evening of Jan. 27. Authorities have warned of train delays and cancellations as one local line will be temporarily closed. Localized traffic and business disruptions are likely until technicians complete their work and authorities give the all-clear. Advice Allow additional time to reach destinations near the affected area, Jan. 27. Seek alternative driving routes to avoid the security perimeter until the disposal operation ends. Heed the instructions of local authorities.
