27th January 2023
An unexploded explosive device, which was later destroyed in a safe location, was unearthed yesterday during work in Slavonski Brod, the Brod-Posavina Police announced on Saturday, and it was determined that it was an unexploded mortar shell left over from the Second World War. The mine was dug up yesterday morning by an employee of a company from the area of Slavonski Brod while levelling the ground with a work machine, and police officers professionally trained in anti-explosion protection determined at the place of discovery that it was an unexploded 120 mm mortar mine left over from the Second World War, reports HINA. Specialists safely destroyed the mortar mine at the nearest suitable location with a controlled explosion, the Brodsko-Posavska Police Department said in a statement.
