A two kilometre cordon was put in place around the bomb for people's safety An unexploded Second World War bomb that was found on an Essex beach has been detonated this morning (January 26). The bomb was discovered on January 23 and saw police and bomb disposal units rushing to the village of Bradwell. The ordnance was subsequently confirmed following a report to police and the area around it was made safe with a large cordon around the site. Now, the police have said the bomb will be detonated and urged people not to be alarmed by the noise. A spokesman said: "This morning explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) experts will safely deal with an unexploded World War Two shell found in Bradwell. It was discovered shortly after 11am on Tuesday (23 January) in the East End Road area. "A cordon has been put in place which currently stands at 2km. EOD experts are planning to safely deal with the ordnance this morning at around 10am and weصre asking people to avoid the area. "The controlled detonation is expected to be loud but please do not be concerned. Thank you for your understanding." There is not thought to be any further danger or other ordnance in Bradwell following the detonation of this device.
