Unknown event in Staffordshire, Beaconside, Stafford area, United Kingdom on Mon 2nd January 2023

A serving member of the British Army has been charged with terror and explosives offences, the Metropolitan Police said. Daniel Abed Khalife, of Beaconside, Stafford, was charged over two incidents in Staffordshire in August 2021 and January this year. He is accused of "eliciting or attempting to elicit information of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism" in the area of Beaconside in August 2021. He is also accused of placing an article "with the intention of inducing in another a belief that the said article was likely to explode or ignite and thereby cause personal injury or damage to property" in connection with an incident in the same area on or before 2 January this year. Khalife is in police custody and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Saturday.
