On 28 January 2023, Russian forces carried out airstrikes and shelled Ukrainian positions near Novoselivske, Luhansk. Up to 50 Ukrainian servicemen were killed near Synkivka, Tabaivka, Novoselivske, Lyman Pershyi, Vilshana and Krokhmalne (fatalities split between 6 events).
