On 2 February 2023, Russian forces shelled near Sieverne, Donetsk. Russia claims that the Ukrainian losses included one tank, three armored combat vehicles, an Msta-B howitzer, a Uragan multiple rocket launcher, and a Caesar self-propelled artillery unit made in France. Russia claims that more than 100 Ukrainian soldiers were killed in Nelipivka, Tonenke, and Sieverne. (100 fatalities split across three events.)
