On 21 January 2023, Russian forces fired mortars and artillery, carried out airstrikes at Ukrainian positions near Stelmakhivka, Luhansk. More than 50 Ukrainian servicemen were killed near Dvorichna, Hrianykivka, Novoselivske and Stelmakhivka (fatalities split between 4 events).
