On 24 January 2023, Russian forces shelled the positions of Ukrainian forces near Novoselivske, Luhansk. Russia claims that the Ukrainian losses included three armored personnel carriers, a vehicle and two self-propelled howitzers manufactured by the German company Panzerhaubitze 2000. Russia claims that more than 90 Ukrainian soldiers were killed in Vilshana, Berestove and Novoselivske. (90 casualties split across three events.)
