A bomb from the Second World War was discovered during construction work in Altenessen on Tuesday. The dud could now be blown up in a controlled manner. The detonator was stuck at an angle on the ten hundredweight bomb. It was not possible to defuse it in this way, so the bomb had to be detonated in a controlled manner. According to the fire brigade, around 2,000 residents in the immediate vicinity had to leave their houses and apartments. In the outer circle, about 8,000 people were affected by the blast. During the operation, they had to stay in rooms that are averted from the site where they were found.
