A World War II bomb was found during dredging work in Ludwigshafen-Rheingönheim on Tuesday afternoon. According to the city, it was defused a little later. Less than two hours passed from the first warning on the Warnapp Nina to the all-clear: According to the city of Ludwigshafen, a bomb was found during excavation work in Rheingönheim on Tuesday - and defused almost immediately. For this purpose, the area within a radius of 500 meters around the site was cleared. The ordnance clearance service needed about a quarter of an hour to render the bomb harmless. Defusing started at 3:53 p.m. and ended at 4:08 p.m. What was helpful: According to the city, no private houses were affected, only streets, a landfill site and allotment gardens. According to the city, the bomb weighed 500 kilograms.
