On 14 January 2023, a remote control IED planted by Al Shabaab detonated, targeting ATMIS UPDF convoy moving from Danow and heading to Bulo Mareer, near Golweyn village (Marka, Lower Shabelle). The vehicle was damaged. There were no fatalities. Two soldiers were injured. Al Shabaab claimed responsibility.
