On 14 January 2023, two under vehicle IED (UVIED) by Al Shabaab detonated, targeting government security forces (SNA) checkpoint at the district administration office in Jalalaqsi town (Jalalaqsi, Hiraan). At least eight people were killed including government officials. Al Shabaab claimed responsibility.
