On 16 January 2023, in Kawng Saung village (Pekon township, Taunggyi district, Shan-South state), the military from the IB-421 military artillery camp in Pekon town fired artillery rounds deliberately in the evening, hitting and destroying three IDP camps in the village. An IDP woman was killed and two other IDP men were injured.
