On 15 January 2023, in Mudon town of Mudon township (Mawlamyine district, Mon state), the People's Defense Force - Mudon carried out a mine attack against a retired military captain who was a former minister of border affair while retuning in a vehicle near his residence at around 6:30 pm. The mine explosion damaged the vehicle. There were no casualties. Following the mine attack, the Myanmar military forces detained ten local civilians for questioning. Some of them released later that day.
