On 5 January 2023, Russian air forces and artillery struck Ukrainian forces and a military warehouse in the area of Novomykhaylivka, Donetsk. About 50 Ukrainian soldiers were killed near Kostiantynivka, Prechystivka, Novomaiorske, and Novomykhaylivka (fatalities split and coded as 13).
