A WORLD War One artillery bomb was disposed of via a controlled explosion on farmland in Worcestershire. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal team safely carried out a controlled explosion of a 15lb first world war artillery shell today (Thursday). The shell was found yesterday by a magnet fisherman in the River Severn in Worcester city centre. The Peaky Dippers, who are a group of amateur magnet fishers on YouTube, found the artillery shell yesterday (Wednesday, December 28). South Quay by the River Severn in Worcester was cordoned off and emergency services were called to the scene. Copenhagen Street reopened at approximately 7.20pm.
